717 AWARDED: 717 Credit Union has been named a 2022 NorthCoast 99 award winner by the Employers Resource Council.
The honor is awarded to 99 northeast Ohio workplaces that have exceptional policies, practices and benefits that are shown to attract and retain top performing employees.
NorthCoast 99 winners participated in a application process and were ranked on how they address top-performer attraction, development and retention in the areas of organizational strategy, policies and benefits; talent attraction, acquisition and onboarding; employee well-being; employee engagement and talent development; total rewards; and diversity, equity and inclusion.
717 was one of only two companies in the Mahoning Valley to earn the distinction.
This distinction falls on the tail of the credit Union being ranked a top 100 Credit Union in the United States and number one in Ohio by S&P Global Market Insights for the second year in a row. Forbes also recently named 717 to their list of Best-In-State Credit Unions.
YBI ACQUIRES ADDITIVE TECH: The purchase agreement for the XJet Carmel 1400C, leveraging revolutionary NanoParticle Jetting (NPJ) technology, has recently been executed. The Youngstown Business Incubator was the first beta site for the technology in the U.S.
In 2017, YBI undertook an initiative through the International YBI program to leverage its expertise in digital and advanced manufacturing technologies, as well as their close community contacts with the technology and investment community in Israel to attract Israeli businesses and their employees to the Mahoning Valley.
The initiative had two separate, but related focuses: startup attraction and development of a market for an Israeli ceramic 3D Printer, the XJet Carmel 1400.
The purchase agreement is between YBI and XJet, an Israeli additive manufacturing firm with unique ceramic 3D printing capabilities. The machine that was delivered to YBI in 2018 was the first to be located outside of Israel.
SHEELY’S MARKS MILESTONE: Sheely’s Furniture and Appliance is celebrating its 70th anniversary, and is marking the milestone by collecting funds for Akron Children’s Hospital.
It is offering $70 off every $1,000 spent when a customer donates to the hospital through Saturday. Customers can also get 12-months special financing.
Founded by Dale Sheely Sr. in 1952, Sheely’s North Lima showroom is 80,000 square feet, and the company has a 65,000-square-foot store in Aurora.
JOIN BUSINESS ACCELERATOR PROGRAM: Applications are now open for phase three of the Business Accelerator Program at the Youngstown Business Incubator in partnership with Ohio Minority Business Assistance Center Youngstown / Warren Region.
“Grow: Creating Economies of Scale” is a four-week program that offers workshops and educational sessions that focus on developing strategies to expand services and / or production. The program is open to any minority-owned business within the Mahoning Valley who has been in entrepreneurship for a minimum of three years looking to expand their business through marketing. Space is limited, so acceptance will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.
