Virtual opportunities including mentoring, webinars, and workshops will be available to local business owners.
(MEDFORD)—The City is partnering with SCORE, a network of volunteer mentors who offer resources and insights for starting and growing a business in Medford, Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn announced.
Through SCORE, Medford small business owners can receive free virtual guidance from experienced mentors on creating business plans and developing new strategies, as well as general business advice. Additionally, business owners will have access to free online workshops and interactive courses on a variety of topics such as starting a business, marketing to consumers, and managing finances. SCORE also provides a library of online tools including guides, templates, checklists, infographics, and more.
Business owners can sign up for mentoring services by completing a request form at www.score.org/find-mentor.
“Our small businesses are an essential part of our City’s growing local economy and creating a vibrant downtown for our residents,” Mayor Lungo-Koehn said. “By partnering with SCORE, we’re able to strengthen our commercial sectors and offer new and creative ways to support small businesses in Medford.”
“Helping businesses succeed is the focus of the Medford Chamber of Commerce and the resources and mentoring provided by SCORE is extremely beneficial,” Medford Chamber of Commerce President Maury Carroll said. “Whether it’s an established business looking to expand or a new business trying to break into the market, SCORE’s real-world experience is useful.”
“We’re delighted to partner with the City of Medford in bridging SCORE services to small business owners,” said Ben DeWinter, SCORE Branch Manager with SCORE Northeast Massachusetts. “Our data shows that business clients who receive three or more hours of mentoring report higher revenues and increased business growth.”
Small business owners interested in accessing SCORE services can find a mentor, browse the library of resources, and take a workshop at www.nemassachusetts.score.org. Business information is also available through the SBA at sba.org.
